Trotter ahead of rivals at charity Triathlon Challenge

The starter event saw more than 125 competitors racing for the first time. Alongside the triathlon novices, competitors in all age groups came from across the West Midlands to compete in the biggest school-age event in the Midlands.

Warwick School’s Reuben Trotter won the Youth age group followed in second place by Harry Coley-Smith.

Skip Snelson came first in the TriStar 3 (12-13 age group) which shot him to the top of the West Midlands series.

While competitors were focused on giving their all on the course, a proportion of their entry fee and an associated training event were combined to raise money for Get A-Head, an independent cancer charity.

Louise Newton, charity manager for Get A-Head, said: “The day was a huge success and it was wonderful to see so many children taking part in the triathlon and scootathlon!”

Stratford Sharks’ Alison Speechly, who organised the event alongside Warwick School’s Peter Nield, said: “It was great to see so many kids taking part with such energy and enthusiasm, and even better knowing we managed to raise so much for our chosen charity.

“Events of this kind involve a lot of commitment from a whole range of local people to whom we are eternally grateful.”
