Shephard clocked a time of 55min 31 sec over the 400m swim, 20k cycle and 5k run to finish ahead of Kenilworth Runner Richard Simkiss.

Simkiss, a triathlon rookie, had suffered a crash in the transition between the bike and running leg but recovered sufficiently to clock 57:54, which was two minutes faster than last year’s winning time.

The pair denied Leamington C&ACs Eoin O’Flynn, who came in third in 58:14, on his hat-trick attempt.

RLSCC’s Laura Fuller won the women’s race ahead of Leamington C&AC’s Anouk Molliex (1:07:31) with both leaving a lot of men in their wake in the pool, on the bike and the run.
