Following on from her team silver, the former Lillington Free Church star reached the final of the women’s doubles courtesy of a hard-fought win over home hopes Madhurika Patkar and Neha Aggarwal.

The English duo then defied their massively inferior rankings to take the first game 11-9 against Singaporean world number four Feng Tianwei and partner Yu Mengyu.

However, they were finally overpowered by their Asian opponents, who won the next three games 11-7, 11-2, 11-3 to clinch gold.

Sibley tweeted: “Gutted not to win but that’s 2 silver medals overall!!”

Sibley is currently in action in the World Championships in France.
