Long-time league leaders Rugby St Andrews have slipped further back in second place after their third consecutive defeat. On Saturday Saints went down 27-19 to Woodrush.

It follows their 22-17 loss away from home to Old Leamingtonians last week and the 22-0 defeat by Old Coventrians, who are now nine points clear in top spot.

A lot of unforced errors in their latest game at John Tomalin Way against fifth-placed Woodrush left Saints unable to build phases.

Tries came from Kyle Smith with a brace and Lloyd Warner, with two conversions added by Ryan Taylor.

Saints now have plenty of time to regroup after their brilliant start to the Midlands 3 West (South) campaign as they are without a game for two weeks.

Their next game isn’t until March 21, when they travel to take on Stoke Old Boys, who are eighth in the division.

Their remaining games will then see tenth-placed Alcester visit Ashlawn Road on March 28 before Saints visit bottom club Bedworth on April 4.

They finish the league season on April 18 hosting Berkswell and Balsall, who are currently third in the table.
