Only absence can deny Curran as she claims schools’ cross-country treble

Martha Curran claimed a hat-trick of Mid-Warwickshire Primary Schools Cross Country wins with first place at the final event in the series at Priory Park, Warwick, last Saturday.

For many of the runners it was their first taste of a hilly course, with a long steep climb having to be tackled twice.

However, in perfect conditions for running, Park Hill pupil Curran made light of the ascents to secure her third successive victory, ahead of Emily Harrison (St James).

Unfortunately, as Curran did not compete in the opening race of the series, she was ineligible for the overall award, which went to Harrison.

Telford’s Louis Harvey won the boys’ race, with Jonny Ley’s second place helping him to the overall award and St Margaret’s to the series team award.

St Margaret’s also won the girls’ overall team prize.

Leek Wootton and Burton Green won the small schools’ trophy for girls and boys, respectively.
