Harry O’ Brien used the boot effectively all day and his early nudge created the opening try.

The home eight seemed to have gathered but Jimmy Middleton caught him in possession and stripped the ball. Thompson, following up, gratefully accepted the offload to score.

A successful conversion from Tom Kendall and a penalty for offside at a ruck gave Kenilworth a ten-point advantage with a quarter of an hour gone.

With Gareth Renowden orchestrating, further Ks pressure eventually told when the number nine went over from short range for a typically sniping score.

Kenilworth were looking to close this game out early and a Thompson charge led to their third try of the afternoon.

With the visiting backs, in particular, playing with great fluency, the floodgates opened in the second half after a probing nudge ahead from O’Brien sent Nyle Beckett over.

Another backs-led break saw Dominic Sheehan time his pass to perfection to put the busy Middleton in for a score under the posts.

Kenilworth were now running it from everywhere. On his own 22, Renowden spun a miss-pass out to Kendall who stepped neatly inside the centre to break the line before feeding Sheehan to take the advantage above 40 points.

Sheehan added another try only a minute later.

With confidence sky-high the next few minutes saw Beckett put the exclamation mark on the victory, grabbing his second after good work from O’Brien.

Soon after, Thompson stripped the ball from the Bedworth eight and passed to Beckett to complete his hat-trick in some style.

A sublime offload from Jack Gibson produced a score for Middleton before Bedworth’s endeavour was rewarded with a consolation try in the dying seconds.
