Keen ice hockey player Austin Mitchell-King from Dunchurch has a double reason to celebrate.

Austin is captain of the U15 Coventry Blaze ice hockey team.

He recently trialled successfully for the Midlands Conference, the elite pathway for the English Ice Hockey Association Development Programme.

There are five Conferences across the UK, with Coventry being part of the Midlands Conference along with six other clubs.

Austin, a pupil at King Henry VIII School in Coventry, will represent his club as a forward player in the UK Inter-Conference tournament in May, and perhaps also in a European tournament.

His second success came immediately afterwards when he was selected to represent his country in the 2016 Great Britain U14 team for Inline Roller Hockey (BIPHA GB) at the AAU Junior Olympics, being held in Hawaii in July.

Austin works and trains very hard, with both overnight training sessions for Midlands and GB training at weekends, in addition to his Coventry Blaze commitments so is delighted to see his efforts doubly rewarded.
