Horne claims first individual international medal at Euros

Kenilworth’s Ciara Horne came away from the European Track Cycling Championships in Gerchen, Switzerland, with a gold medal and a bronze.

The 26-year-old was part of the winning Great Britain pursuit team, featuring in their first two races before being replaced by Laura Trott for the final.

However, it was her third place in the individual pursuit which proved the most memorable.

“I’m really happy with my ride,” said Horne who made her debut for Team GB in the 2014 European Championships. “It was a personal best in the final.

“I paced it really well and it was a bronze medal – my first-ever international individual medal.”

Laura Trott and Katie Archibald both claimed three golds as GB topped the medal standings.
