Howard Forinton led the way with a superb hat-trick, Craig Watkin converted a spot-kick and further goals from Mike Ellis and man-of- the-match Josh Cole completed the scoring.

The win piled the pressure on The Bell/AEI Rugby, with Whitnash manager Marc Friend hoping a busy end to the season takes its toll on their title rivals.

“The result was all the more pleasing as we were missing several key players,” he said.

“Beating the top of the league and leapfrogging them gives us all massive confidence going into our final four league games.

“AEI Rugby have a lot of games in hand on us and in theory could pip us to title if they win their last seven games.

“If they do that, playing three times a week with some tough sides still to play, then they probably deserve to win it.”
