Town ended their month-long absence from action by once more securing victory late in the game at Butlin Road last Saturday.
Having fallen behind to the Lincolnshire visitors after 27 minutes, Dylan Parker was soon levelling things up for Rugby - with substitute Kurtis Revan again making an impact from the bench with a goal, before Danico Johnson rounded things off in added-time.
Valley made one change to their starting line-up with Charlie Evans returning in a wing-back role. The returning David Kolodynski was named as one of the home side's substitutes.
The hosts started brightly enough, with Justin Marsden twice threatening and Loyiso Recci also putting his rising effort over the bar.
Boston responded well though, and Alex Beck's header to Lee Beeson's free-kick clipped the top of the crossbar.
Parker was then denied twice in a matter of seconds by keeper Travis Portas and skipper Kyle Watkins after clever play from Johnson, but it was the visitors that took the lead when a well-struck shot by Luke White from just outside the box beat Matt Hill on its way to the top corner of the net.
Town missed the opportunity for an immediate response when Portas was down well to keep out Ryan Seal's penalty after Johnson had been clipped in the area by Jordan Tate.
However Parker did the job instead by firing his low shot in, after Johnson had showed good composure before laying the ball into his strike partner's path on the half-hour mark.
The remainder of the first half was a quiet affair, and the new period started in the same vein - with Johnson's shot on the turn at the near post the only effort of note in its opening exchanges.
Boston then mounted their best spell of the game, with Corey Cunliffe heading over and Hill pulling off a fine one-handed save to Beck's strike, with the resulting corner from Beeson flashing dangerously across Hill's goal.
The double introduction of Caine Elliott and Revan again provided Valley with renewed vigour, and the hosts noticeably upped their intensity and began to dominate proceedings.
Evans's shot from distance drifted wide and Recci and Jamal Clarke got in each other's way following a low corner by Seal, before the introduction of Kolodynski saw Town kick-on again.
The club's all-time leading scorer marked his return by setting up Revan for his goal with seven minutes of normal time remaining, when he powered a low strike past Portas.
Portas went on to nearly grab an amazing equaliser at the other end though, when the keeper met Beeson's corner perfectly with his head - only to be denied by a goal-line block by Keenah Rosser.
Rugby broke quickly from this near-miss and Kolodynski again assumed the role of provider by playing in Johnson - who outstripped his marker before rolling the ball into the unguarded net for Town's third of the afternoon.
