Racers boss drawing on the positives

RACING Club earned a vital point against March’s Midland Combination Premier Division team of the month on Saturday to cut the gap on second-bottom Alveston to four points.

The home side had the better of the chances, but despite failing to find the killer goal, manager Lee Knight believes his side’s second successive draw sets them up perfectly for the run-in.

And, with two meetings with Alveston and a trip to fellow strugglers Massey Ferguson following tomorrow’s derby at Southam, Knight says there is no reason why Racers cannot gain maximum points.

“I’m aiming to go the rest of the month unbeaten,” said Knight.

“I’ve told the players that we’re two matches unbeaten and we have to take the positives.

“We’ve turned a corner, are a bit more resilient and we’ve got to look to kick on. We’ve got four games left and I’m looking to win them all.”

Knight this week excused his squad training ahead of the trip to Banbury Road, admitting that the hard pitches are taking their toll.

He added: “One or two are carrying niggles and it will good to let them recharge their batteries.”
