Elliot Powell was also on target in the 3-2 win and manager Michael Hayden was impressed with the way his side dealt with the tie as a whole.

“There were no dugouts and no linesmen and it was a new experience for a lot of our young lads who haven’t played Sunday football,” said Hayden.

“There were a couple of meaty challenges and whereas in the past we might have bottled it, we stood up to them.

“They were no mugs and it was good to come up against a side like that.

“The most pleasing thing is that we have now become a difficult team to beat.”

Racers are in cup action against tomorrow when they travel to Midland Alliance side Coleshill Town in the FA Vase.

The step five side lie seventh in the table, but Hayden believes his side will not be overawed.

“We’re looking forward to it,” he said. “Against the bigger teams this season we’ve performed better.

“We shouldn’t lack for motivation and as long as we go out and perform I’m sure we’ll get a good response.”

 Two second-half goals gave Racing Club Warwick’s youth side victory over Studley in their Midland Floodlit League clash.

Cameron Nunn curled a free-kick around the Studley wall to open the scoring, with Troy Stephens picking himself up to score the second from the spot after being upended in the box.
