Kenilworth show grit to fight back

“We didn’t cover ourselves in glory,” said Kingham. “However, we did battle hard and keep going to the bitter end.

“Because of that we’ve managed to keep going and pinch three points from a very determined South Redditch team.”

Town’s reserves gained four points from their fixtures on Saturday and Tuesday to leave manager Mick Burke looking up the Division Three table.

A Nicky Hanlon strike and a Mark Rutherford brace helped Town fight back from 2-1 down to beat Moreton Rangers 3-2 and Rutherfdord was again on the scoresheet in a 1-1 midweek draw with Claverdon.

Town hold six games in hand on some of their rivals and Burke said: “We’ve moved up into ninth place.

“If we can have a good month now we can close on the top five and climb the table.”
