Chairman Jim Scott has spoken of his gratitude to the supporters after a flying start to Leamington’s ‘Boost Your Club’ scheme.

Launched last week, the scheme has been set up with an ambitious target of raising £30,000 towards next season’s playing budget and the cost of installing a new stand and 250 seats to meet upcoming ground grading requirements.

In an update to fans, Scott said the club have been minimising costs where possible but that the Brakes’ ability to raise additional funds has proved difficult during the Covid-19 pandemic.

With thoughts beginning to turn to the next National League North campaign, which is expected to start in September, the club launched the scheme to allow fans to support the club with the option of contributing £5 or more per month.

The response has already been impressive with the scheme having already raised over £10,000.

And Scott believes that just shows how highly thought of the club is in the local community.

The Leamington chairman said: “It’s been a positive start and it has climbed over £10,000 which is fantastic from the fans and it is much appreciated in these difficult times.

“We recognise that it is tough and therefore there may be people who want to contribute but can’t and we quite understand that.

“We are very happy that there are people who see the club as being that important that they wish to make some form of contribution to support us.

“We are not a club that has gone to our fans very often. When we were building the club from where it was in 2000, the fans put in a lot of time and effort during that time.

“But once we had the infrastructure in place, we have always believed we should try to run the club within our means.

“I am grateful now for what the fans are doing for us and I think there is a recognition that our club really does a lot in the community.

“I think people see it as an important part of the community because we have always had the ethos that, wherever possible, we will try to do a lot of activity.

“We have held firm to that and invested money in going out and coaching and doing other activities within our community. Perhaps that is now coming back to support us.”
