Fergusson and Voges lead Alveston’s medal rush at county tournament
The club’s first medal came in the boys’ under-ten event where Vernon Aun took bronze but it was in the boys’ under-12 category that Alveston dominated.
Three of the four semi-finalists play at the club’s North Leamington session and even the fourth was a former attendee.

Hide AdKenilworth-based Noah Smithson edged out team- mate Ollie Wear 21-18 in a closely fought final, having come from behind to beat a distraught Louis Kendrick 23-21 in the semi-final.
Wear had beaten Harrison Sainsbury in the other last-four clash.
Warwick-based Faith Christopherson claimed gold in the girls’ under-12s’.
The medals continued in the under-14s’ where King’s High pupil Esme Fergusson took gold ahead of clubmate Caitlin Voges.

Hide AdThis was an extremely tight event with all three medal winners dropping just one game each and standings decided on points scored, Voges edging out third-placed Kiri Chohan (Coventry) by just a point.
Sam Christopherson was unable to match his sister’s earlier achievement, settling for silver in the boys’ under-14 event after going down 22-20 in the final to Activ Sport’s Nathan Aldulami.
The final age group of the day saw two more medals for Alveston in the under-16s’.
The boys’ event was a tight affair with another three-way tie decided on game points, with James Scott missing out on gold by a point to Ravi Bodalia from Virgin Active.

Hide AdVoges, playing above her age group, gained a creditable bronze to add to her under-14 silver.
Alveston have added a second weekly slot at North Leamington School and now run sessions at 6pm to 7.30pm and 7.30pm to 9pm on Thursday evenings.
