Eaton continues his uphill curve despite failing to add to podium place in Slalom

Stockton skier Ollie Eaton insisted he was more than satisfied with his performance at the English Alpine Championships, despite failing to add to his Slalom podium finish.

Over 400 of the country’s best alpine skiers descended on Bormio for the 20th running of the event, including Eaton’s sister Freya who won the girls’ under-18 NJR slalom.

And Eaton got off to a flying start as he finished third-highest Brit in the under-21 national junior slalom race.

He also managed fifth in the national junior Giant Slalom as well as sixth in the Super G event, having crashed doing the same discipline the day before.

“It was a pretty bumpy final run, but the Super G course wasn’t actually as hard as everyone was expecting so I wish I had pushed it a bit harder,” said the 19-year-old.

“I do love doing the Super G, even if it is a lot faster and yesterday I crashed out. I was pretty nervous before this one today, but it was good fun.

“This week I’ve had two pretty decent races in the first GS where I skied well and was right up there, and I was third in the Slalom too so good results there.”
