Champions-elect show no mercy as they whitewash County Council B

Rugby A surge towards the Leamington & District Division One title shows no sign of letting up, with the leaders crushing fourth-placed County Council B 10-0, writes Phil John.

Ryan Lines. Matt Outhwaite and Adrian Pilgrim have now opened up a seemingly unbridgeable 13-point gap at the top.

County Council A defeated bottom team Nomads A 7-3 with trebles from Clive Irwin and Pat McCabe and a single from Phil Paine. Paul Rowan and Tony Thomas both scored for the Nomads and combined to take the doubles.

In Division Two, Phoenix put themselves in the promotion picture by hammering mid-table Free Church D 9-1.

Paul Calloway and Callum Martin notched hat-tricks and the doubles and Richard Jardim added two.

It was left to young Jack Green to gain an excellent consolation scalp.

Phoenix are eight points behind the leaders in second but with two games in hand.

Free Church D had earlier overcome relegation-threatened St George’s D 6-4.

Green claimed a triple, Anthony Smith won two and Cherry Matthews one.

Nomads Enigmas lead the way after defeating Colebridge C 8-2.

Syed Moyinuddin claimed a maximum plus the doubles with Steve Proctor who won twice. Malc Macfarlane also had two wins with Neil Wheatley responding.

At the bottom end of the table 12th played tenth, with basement side Eathorpe A emerging 6-4 victors against Colebridge C.

Pete Titmas won his three, Bernard Reman had two successes and Steph Hawkins got the winning point.

Struggling Eathorpe B had a morale-booster in Division Three when edging out County Council C 6-4.

Binh-Khoi Nguyen won his three and Marius Morariu secured two, the pair combining for the doubles.

Doug Lowe was the Council star with two.

Eathorpe followed the victory with a 7-3 win over Flavels A. Nguyen again took a maximum, Morariu chipped in with two and the doubles and Callum Pickering posted one.

Flavels A had previously dented Free Church F’s promotion push with a draw.

Trevor Bradley was the critical factor, winning his three, with Mick Bennett aiding the cause with two.

James Robertson fell 11-7 in the fifth to Bradley but won his other matches and took the doubles with Lewis Singleton, who won once. Jenny Singleton secured the crucial fifth point.

The leaders are Free Church G who had an excellent 7-3 win over the strong Rugby E outfit.

Ricardo Bolanos and Adam Pulman were undefeated.

Rugby D defeated Nomads C 6-4 in a result which will probably ensure their survival. Harvey Fowler won his three and the doubles with brother Oliver who won a pair.

Second-placed County Council D squeezed past Whitnash B 6-4 thanks mainly to Mark Freeman’s unbeaten performance.
