X Factor hopeful was a big hit with the judges

The 19-year-old, who lives in Cubbington, gave a sassy and vocally powerful rendition of the London singer and rapper’s She Said in front of a TV audience of millions to wow Louis Walsh, Kelly Rowland, Tulisa Contostavlos and, in particular, Gary Barlow at her audition at Birmingham’s LG Arena in the summer.

Her performance was televised on The Xtra factor on Sunday and earned her a place in the show’s Boot Camp, with the judges voting unanimously to put her through.

Faye, a former Cubbington Primary School and North Leamington School pupil who works as a waitress at the Warwickshire Golf and Country Club, said: “It was an amazing experience to go on in front of 4,000 people, it seems as if things are happening so suddenly and overnight.

“I went into town and got stopped in the street, which was all a bit weird because the audition happened two months ago.

“I was so nervous on the day but I just thought ‘I’ve only got one shot so I just have to go for it and do what I can do’, I wasn’t going to let anything hold me back.”

A talented singer from a young age, Faye has previous experience of televised shows - having appeared in Channel Five’s Don’t Stop Believing last year.

Closer to home she has performed in singing competitions, Christmas lights switch-ons, at bingo halls and in Teen Idol at the Spa Centre.

But with its millions of viewers, the X Factor could provide the teenager with her big break.

Faye said: “If it happens it happens, what is meant to be is meant to be so what have I got to lose?

“Singing is something I’ve always loved whether it turns out to be a career for me or just a hobby.

“If you’re passionate about something it doesn’t matter.”
