Father Christmas will also take time out of his busy schedule to pay a visit.

The sideshows will include fairground rides and attractions, bouncy castles and a selection of stalls for organisations and charities including a bottle and chocolate tombola and raffle stall.

Any contributions to the raffle or tombola would be gratefully received.

The lights will be switched on at 6pm by Father Christmas, Whitnash mayor Cllr Judy Falp and a representative from the event’s main sponsor Co-operative Energy.

The event will be compered by Christmas lights committee chairman and entertainer town councillor Simon Button, who has thanked Co-operative Energy for the sponsorship, an array of companies and individuals for the financial support, the Plough and Harrow team for their assistance and volunteers for their help.

He added: “Without this generosity we couldn’t put on this popular event.”
