Warwickshire’s ambulance trust gains new status

PATIENTS will now be able to have more of a say about how the ambulance trust that serves Warwickshire operates.

West Midlands Ambulance Service has been apointed an NHS foundation trust, which means that it will now have members who can contribute towards making decisions about the organisation.

It also means that the service, which is the fifth ambulance service of the 11 in the country to achieve the status, is given more freedom as to how it manages its finances.

The status was authorised by Monitor, the body that regulates NHS foundation trusts.

Trust chairman Sir Graham Meldrum said: “Achieving NHS foundation trust status will ensure the trust is even more responsive to the needs of patients.”

Anyone interested in becoming a member of the trust should call 01384 241 411.
