Warwickshire election results to be announced for Warwick District in next few hours

The Warwickshire County Council election results for the 14 wards in Warwick District covering Leamington, Kenilworth, Warwick and surrounding areas will be known in the next few hours.

Counting has began at Stoneleigh Park where the results will be announced.

The turnout for the district was 32 per cent.

An early surprise result has been announced for the county with council leader Alan Farnell losing his Weddington seat to Green party candidate Keith Kondakor.

Nationally UKIP have had what leader Nigel Farage has hailed as a ‘remarkable’ night, winning 42 seats so far and averaging 26 per cent of the vote in the wards where it is standing.

The Conservatives have lost control of two councils but retained five others while Labour have made modest gains in the Midlands and the south.

Contests are taking place in 27 county councils with around 2,300 council seats up for grabs.
