VIDEO: Jeremy Corbyn draws a crowd in Warwick

The leader of the opposition met councillors, party members and supporters outside Shire Hall during the afternoon to launch the election campaign of the party’s Police and Crime Commissioner candidate, Cllr Julie Jackson.

As well as speaking about the importance of the police election in May, he addressed concerns from crowds over issues including the NHS and infrastructure across the county.

Mr Corbyn said: “The elections are about the police and crime commissioner, and they are about local elections across the whole country.

“We have got to show people that our country doesn’t have to go through this horror of cuts in local services, cuts in police numbers, tax on the national health service and all those things.

“Instead we need to invest in expanding our economy, invest in housing, invest in the young people of our society so they get all the opportunities they deserve. That is the way forward.”

Pupils and politics students from Trinity School and Myton School also headed out to speak to Mr Corbyn about current affairs and issues affecting young people.
