Top cake does the trick

THIS frighteningly good cake made by a Leamington Rehabilitation Hospital volunteer has won an international award.

Cathy Corbett, a former patient at the hospital in Heathcote Lane, entered her Halloween-themed ‘trick or treat’ cake in the novice category at the Cake International show at the NEC in Birmingham and has now donated the prize-winning delight to the hospital’s Christmas raffle.

She said: “I was so grateful fore the care I received when I was a patient here that I really wanted to come back and help others.

“I come in regularly and make sugar dough cake decorations with the patients.

“It’s a brilliant activity to help patients with brain injuries to improve their hand-eye co-ordination and concentration.

The hospital’s Christmas fair takes place on Sunday from 2pm to 4pm.
