The youngster, who lived in Farnborough, was hit by a light-coloured metallic Ford Mondeo while he crossed the A423 at a rural location between Southam and his home to catch his school bus at about 7am on Thursday.

An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, a doctor and a senior paramedic officer were sent to the scene.

A rapid response vehicle from South Central Ambulance Service also attended.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “On arrival crews found a boy who was in cardiac arrest being given excellent CPR by off duty South Central ambulance staff.

“The boy had reportedly been in collision with a car.

“Crews and the doctor continued emergency treatment but sadly, despite the best efforts of everyone, nothing could be done to save the boy and he was confirmed dead at scene.”

Warwickshire Police are asking any witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw the youngster or the Ford Mondeo at around 7am on the morning before the collision to contact Pc Wayne Knight or Sgt Richard Toms on 415415.
