Thieves attacked vulnerable man and stole his bike on Christmas Eve in Rugby

At about 2.50pm on Thursday, December 24 the 22-year-old victim was riding his black and red Forme mountain bike along Boughton Road.

As he reached the junction with Mill Road he heard someone shouting for him to stop.

Two teenage boys approached him and accused him of having their friend’s bike. The victim explained the bike was his but the teenagers began assaulting him.

A third man then joined the teenagers and held the victim down whilst the two offenders continued to assault him.

The two teenagers then left the scene with the victim’s bike along Boughton Road towards Brownsover.

During the incident the victim’s glasses were also either stolen or lost.

One of the teenagers was described as mixed race, about 13 years old, 4ft 8ins, with short black hair and had an inch scar diagonally across his cheekbone.

The second teenager was described as white, slightly taller than the other teenager, about 13 years old and with very fair hair.

The man was described as mixed race, about 35 years old, about 6ft and was wearing a coat and blue jeans.

Police staff investigator, Elaine Tuppin, said: “This was a horrible unprovoked offence on a vulnerable man.

“At the time of this offence it was still daylight with a large amount of traffic in the area and many drivers were sounding their horns trying to deter the offenders.

“I would appeal directly to those drivers to please contact us with any information about the incident.

“If anyone knows of, or has been offered a bike matching the description, then please also call us 101.”
