They’re in top gear with driving skills

A GROUP of skilled drivers who help others become an Advanced Motorist have been selected by the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) for the Top Group award for the 2011 year and a prize of £1,000.

It will be the second time the South Warwickshire Group of Advanced Motorists has achieved this honour and the only car group to win it twice.

The group runs its Skill for Life driver courses from Warwick on Sunday mornings.

Recently, three members of the Dolphin family, including Amy, of Warwick, took the course and all three passed the optional test to become Advanced Drivers.

Along with road safety discussions and demonstrations, they took part in a series of drives with the group’s Advanced Motorist observers, with one highlight being a skid-control driving session.

Amy, aged 31, who works in the leisure industry, said: “It helped get me out of my own little ‘in-car bubble’ and have greater road awareness.”
