The Stag is now in top 50

THE Stag at Offchurch near Leamington has put Warwickshire on the map as the county’s only listing in the UK’s Top 50 Gastropub guide for 2012.

The latest accolade follows the pub’s success in winning Michelin status a few months ago, and reflects a remarkable achievement for Nigel Brown and Charles Harris, the young entrepreneurs who bought The Stag in 2009.

General manager Lizzie King can also take some credit for the Gastro listing.

Nigel said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be recognised as ‘the’ Gastro pub in Warwickshire and one of the top 50 in the UK.

“This has only been achieved with the help of such a hardworking and committed team and our thanks go to all of them - and to our customers for their continued support.”

Both Nigel and Charles admit they are proteges of super-chef Raymond Blanc. They pride themselves on sourcing fresh seasonal produce from local suppliers.

And Monsieur Blanc’s influence has definitely played a significant role in the style of cuisine offered at their new sister enterprise, The Moorings at Myton on the edge of Leamington.

Now the successful pair are looking to acquire a third property to further expand their culinary adventures.
