Temperatures hot up despite Jack Frost’s icy grip

HUSBAND and wife Martin and Sheena Rhodes have been feeling as warm as toast in the freezing temperatures thanks to a heating oil supplier and the Leamington Courier.

The pair, of Halford Road, Ettington, were the winners of 500 litres of heating oil, worth around £350, from Coleshill-based Rix Petroleum (Midlands) Ltd in a competition run through the newspaper.

Mr Rhodes, aged 58, said: “Sheena entered the competition – she does quite a few – but this is the first one we’ve won.

“We were gearing up for a cold winter like last year so it was quite a relief to find out we had won. The fuel has certainly made a big difference to our winter heating bill. We were delighted when we found out the news.”

Paul Doherty, general manager of Rix Petroleum’s Midlands business, was on hand to congratulate the winners when tanker driver Paul Pemberton delivered it in time for Christmas.

Mr Doherty said: “With last year’s weather being so cold, we decided to bring some seasonal cheer by giving people the opportunity to win 500 litres of fuel, delivered free to their door.

“It’s a good feeling to know you are prepared for all the British weather can throw at you.”
