Sunday’s Two Castles Run road closures

KENILWORTH Rotary Club’s Two Castles 10K run will take place on Sunday at 9am.

The event, sponsored by Blythe Liggins solicitors, opened online for entries at one minute past midnight on New Years Day and by January 14 all 4,000 places were taken. Included in this are ten members of the military forces who have just returned from Afghanistan and who will be running for charity. Over the years the run has helped people raise more than £500,000 for charity. This year runners will be competing on closed roads due to new statutory regulations. They will leave the grounds of Warwick Castle, head through Warwick and on to Leek Wootton. They will turn left at the Anchor pub, and head down Woodcote Lane. At the end of Woodcote Lane they will turn right into Rouncil Lane and head into Kenilworth.

The run then goes through the back of Kenilworth and finishes inside the grounds of Kenilworth Castle. The Lloyds TSB London 2012 Olympic Torch Tour will be at the castle from 10am to 4pm.

The roads along the route will be closed to traffic from just before 9am. In Warwick roads should all be reopened by 10.15am, in Leek Wootton by 10.40am and in Kenilworth by 11am.
