Sport Relief is here

PEOPLE of all ages and sporting abilities are being encouraged to run, jog or walk at least one mile at a Leamington charity event to help raise funds for those in need across the world.

The Sport Relief Mile will for the first time take place in the town at Newbold Comyn on Sunday March 25, with funds raised going towards Comic Relief.

Organisers Rachel Berney, who coaches the Regency Runners and the Junior Leamington Athletics 365 academy, and Jason Jackson, the man behind the Leamington parkrun on Saturday mornings, are hoping the event will attract at least 900 people and raise a record-breaking amount for the cause.

Rachel said: “Everyone can run. The event invites parents with their pushchairs, as well as keen runners chasing the clock.

“It’s an opportunity to make a huge different to others, while helping yourself get fit.”

With the support of sponsors, including Sainsbury’s, the event offers routes of one, three or six miles. Partipants will be offered vouchers towards entering other sporting events in the area.
