Sir Tim Rice gives praise to Jesus Christ musical

PUPILS from Warwick School and King’s High School worked together to stage hit musical Jesus Christ Superstar this month.

The show, which ran for four nights, featured a 43-strong cast, a 24-piece orchestra and a stage crew of 22.

James Taylor-Watts, as Jesus, Eugenio Cappuccio, who played Judas and Lucy Harries, playing Mary Magdeline, gave emotional and passionate performances.

The orchestra played from a back-stage room and made a spine-tingling contribution to the powerful production.

Written by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber and Sir Tim Rice in 1970, the musical tells the story of Jesus’s last days on earth and his crucifixion.

In a letter to Warwick School, Sir Tim said: “I wish the cast and crew every success in their production of Jesus Christ Superstar and I’m grateful to them for digging up one of my favourite relics.”
