Simon retires after 30 years of fighting fires

COLLEAGUES are bidding a fond farewell to Warwickshire’s assistant chief fire officer Simon Frost who is retiring after 30 years of service to the county.

Mr Frost joined Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service in 1980 and progressed through the ranks before becoming assistant chief in 2008.

Paying tribute to the county and those he has worked with, Mr Frost said: “I am proud to have been a Warwickshire officer and I will never forget the good friends and colleagues that have served this community with pride and professionalism.

“What has made this job is the people, who over the years have shared both the highs and the lows and that is something I will always remember.”

Mr Frost began his career as a firefighter in Nuneaton and was promoted to crew manager at Bedworth fire station in 1986.

During his time in the service, Mr Frost has worked at fire stations across the county including Bedworth, Coleshill, Rugby and Nuneaton.

He was promoted to divisional officer at the training centre in Bedworth in 2001.

Graeme Smith, Warwickshire’s chief fire officer, said: “Simon has been an exceptional assistant chief fire officer and I am sorry to see him leave.

“He has provided the county with 30 years’ service and has been heavily involved in the development of the service to protect and serve Warwickshire residents during that time.

“Simon is well respected by his friends and colleagues and we wish him all the very best in his retirement.”
