Severe delays in Warwick after road collision

Myton Road junction was closed for around 40 minutes after reports that a cyclist was hit by a vehicle this morning (Thursday).

Police closed the busy junction at Banbury Road just before 8am on February 25 after reports of a road traffic collision.

Full details of any injuries are not yet known but it is understood that a cyclist was hit by a vehicle at 7.45am.

An air ambulance was called and is understood to have transferred the patient to hospital.

A statement from Warwickshire Police’s OPU team said: “Myton Road will be closed at the roundabout with Banbury road for at least an hour..

“There is major congestion in Warwick due to the RTC on the Banbury Road. Avoid the area if possible.”

The delays are also affecting buses which have reported severe delays to services throughout the morning.

The road was reopened just before 9.30am.
