Scouts and guides set for WAGS 2016 Gang Show

Rehearsals for the WAGS 2016 Gang Show are coming to a close with scouts and guides across Warwickshire set for the event at the Spa Centre next month.

The all-singing and all-dancing extravaganza, which will run from Tuesday March 8 to Saturday March 12 will include 140 Gang members and crew .

Russell Smith, producing his second Gang Show, has said: “This year’s show brings some very different scenes, the gang members are all brilliant, and rehearsals are going great, there is something for everyone to enjoy, with well known music and song to get your feet tapping”

Russell has been involved with the show for 30 years and brings a lot of experience to the role of Producer.

Zoe, pictured rehearsing here with the Dance Team for the first time ,said, “I am so excited to be part of a tremendous gang and very proud to be in the senior dance team”. She has also been helping with the Gang’s charity fundraising events for the diabetes charity JDRF including guess the teddy bear, a fancy dress day and cake stalls.

Junior gang members have also been busy mastering the art of ribbon dancing and having lots of fun. The Warwickshire Gang Show was started by scout leader Tony Guy in 1971 and is now in its 45th year.

Plans are afoot for a special 50th anniversary show in 2021.

Mr Guy was recently made an MBE for ‘services to scouting and to young people in Blackpool and Warwickshire’.

He has been involved in scouting for more than 70 years and Gang Shows for 55 of those including a special performance in Dallas and Forth Worth, Texas, in 1982.

Tickets for this year’s show are available from The Royal Spa Centre Box Office, and are selling fast.
