Robbery on canal towpath near Hatton

Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery on the canal towpath near Hatton that occurred on Tuesday.

A man was walking along the canal towpath from Shrewley to Hatton and two men walking towards him asked him for his belongings.

Before he could respond he was knocked to the ground and kicked where he fell unconscious for a few moments.

His mobile phone, wallet containing £60 cash and tobacco were stolen.

After he awoke he walked home and alerted the police.

The victim suffered bruising and swelling to his right eye and a small cut to the left side of his nose, and sore ribs.

Officers investigating the incident are appealing for any witnesses to the incident or who believes they may have seen the male or the two thieves before the incident occurred.

The thieves are described as wearing hooded tops, jeans and trainers.
