Robbery along the canal in Leamington

A MAN in his 60s was confronted by two men who grabbed him and stole his wallet along a stretch of canal in Leamington’s Old Town yesterday evening (Monday).

Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery, which occurred along the towpath between Rushmore Street and Clapham Terrace at around 6pm.

Two men who had been walking along the opposite side of the canal crossed over to the man and one of them grabbed hold of his arm, while the other one took his wallet from his back pocket. They walked off towards Clemens Street and the man lost sight of them.

Anyone who may be able to help trace the men should call police on 415000 or pass on information anonymously through Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.

Officers would also like to hear from anyone who finds a discarded wallet in the area. It contained £10 and a few pieces of paper.
