Patricia, who plays Pat Archer, and Nigel, whose television appearances include Ted Roach in Casualty and parts in Coronation Street and Midsomer Murders will perform at the site of the Annual Flower Show beside the village hall on Sunday September 8 at 7pm.

The poetry and prose readings have been organised by Jane Marshall, who has been making programmes for BBC Radio 4 for many years.

Her company, Jane Marshall Productions, concentrates on readings for Book at Bedtime and Book of the Week, a recent programme of which - ‘Operation Massacre’ - she abridged and produced and was read by Nigel Anthony.

The evening will include a selection of classic works from writers such as Wilfred Owen and Bernard Shaw, as well as a chilling ghost story.

The readings will be accompanied by music specially created for the occasion by composer and conductor John James and played by The Leamington Wind Ensemble.

The 400lb bells were installed in 1880 but they have been out of use following a safety inspection several years ago and are in the process of being removed and refurbished.

Tickets, including a free glass of wine from the bar, cost £12 and can be bought from Presto Music, in Park Street, Leamington or at the village hall on the evening.
