Putting the miles in on canal for a good cause

AN ADVENTUROUS fundraiser set off on a four-day journey around Warwickshire’s canals yesterday (Saturday) to help a children’s charity.

Justin Miles, 39, from Kenilworth, suffered a brain injury in a car crash in 1999 and had to learn to walk and talk again.

He has since taken part in various events and expeditions to raise money for the Children’s Trust.

His latest challenge will be to cover the 106-mile Warwickshire Ring canal network using canoes, kayaks and even a more obscure form of water-based transport - a paddle board.

Mr Miles said: “It’s all about making people aware of the battles that kids with brain injuries face on a daily basis.

“When I was recovering from brain injuries thirteen years ago one of the hardest parts was engaging with people.

“I had it tough, and kids with these invisible injuries find it even worse.”
