Pub goes bonkers for films and beer

A “BONKERS” turn-out at a south Warwickshire pub’s festival made for a “cracking” weekend of food, drink, film - and bizarre-looking characters.

Despite two days of heavy rain, the Red Lion in Hunningham counted record crowds at its annual film and beer festival over the bank holiday weekend, with around 1,200 people heading to the pub over the three days to sample a range of real ales and scrumpy ciders, tuck into hog roasts and barbecues and enjoy live music, art, magic and films screened at twilight.

The pub encouraged visitors to dress up as characters from the three films - Anchorman, An American Werewolf in London and Marvel’s Avengers Assemble - and they did not disappoint.

Owner Sam Cornwall-Jones said: “It was cracking. We had a bonkers turn-out when the weather was bonkers as well.”
