Proud day for pupils, parents and schools

Proud teachers wanted to highlight the cream of the crop who gained the most impressive results.

Trinity School in Leamington broke its own record of GCSE results, with a 87 per cent rate of five GCSEs at A* to C grades. The highest achievers were Rosa Spence, who gained six A* and four A’s, Gabriel Saxton-Knight, who gained five A*s and three As and Isaac Saxton-Knight, who achieved eight A*s and two As.

At Myton School in Warwick, 94 per cent of pupils gained five subjects at A* to C grades, with star performers being Dominic Saad with his sweep of 11 A*s and two As, Karenjeet Bains, who gained nine A*s and two As, James Larke, who gained eight A*s and one B and Annie Smith and Devina Sohal, who both achieved eight A*s and two As.

Campion School achieved its best ever results, with every pupil receiving at least five A* to C grades. Head girl Denicia Bernard received five A*s and ten As, Michael Gilfillan four A*s, five As and four Bs and head boy Ryan Hinton received one A*, two As, three Bs and six Cs.

Ryan said: “I am delighted with my results. The support and encouragement I have received has helped me to work hard and ultimately achieve these results.”

Denicia said: “I am so proud of all of the students in Year 11 who have achieved Campion’s best ever results. The support of the whole school community, teachers, students and parents have enabled us to achieve so highly.”

At Warwick School, which celebrated its best ever set of results with 78 per cent at A and A* grades and 95 per cent A* to B, Alex Abbott-Parker, Edward Evans, Jack Foden, Ben Lavelle and Robert Loveridge all gained a full set of 11 or 12 A*s. 

At Warwick independent girls’ school King’s High, 73 per cent of pupils gained A* and A grades, 99.8 per cent A* to C. Olivia Darby, Sophie Glanfield, Emilia McColm and Isabelle Reuser achieved a sweep of at least nine A* grades, while a further six girls gained eight A*s.

Round Oak School, which caters for children with a broad range of needs including moderate, severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties and where almost a quarter of pupils have autistic spectrum disorders, was particularly proud of its 100 per cent pass rate this year.

Headteacher Jane Naylor said: “Taking GCSE’s for students at our school is a huge challenge. These wonderful results reflect the incredible hard work of our teachers and students. We are delighted with these results and feel they are well deserved. All of these students will now be moving into sixth form, either here or with other education providers. I wish them great success with their future studies.”

Three girls from Leamington were among the high achievers at The Kingsley School.

Both Georgie Sheard and Kate McLaughlin got four A*s and six A grades while Amy Fearn acheived two A*s, eight As and a B in extra-curricular astronomy.

Top marks were also awarded to Gaby Moss-Lawton from Stretton-on-Dunsmore who got seven A*s four As, Olivia Atherton from Kenilworth with three A*s and eight As and Zoe Robinson from Coventry who also got three A*s and eight As.

There were many exceptional individual performances at North Leamington School.

Among the high achievers were Jonathan Wells with seven A*s and two As, Emma Jones with six A*s, an A and a B, Sarah Miller-Bartlett who achieved two A*s, eight As and one C, Callum Bell who got three A*s, seven As and a C, Remi Bahi who got three A*s, five As and a B and Aaron Gandu who achieved two A*s, seven As and a B.

Aylesford School had 
plenty of reasons to celebrate. The school’s top pupils included Amber Ridgeway, with six A*s, three As and two Bs, Ryan Bagria who achieved six A*s, two As and six Bs, Alexander Cossey with four A*s and six As, Sofia Saunders who got three A*s, seven As and two Bs, Sam Evans with two A*s, three As and four Bs and Thobeka Maphosa who achieved two A*s, five As and two Cs.

Year 11 students at Southam College surpassed all previous records, and those who did best include Beatrice Egid, with ten A*s, one A and a distinction, Sophie Walpole with eight A*s, three As and one distinction, Mark Harding with six A*s, six As and one B, Emily Roderick with six A*s, five As and one distinction, Lucy Vincent with six A*s, four As and one distinction and Jethro Gunby with five A*s, three As, two Bs and a distinction.

There were distinguished performances from Princethorpe College pupils John Price, who received nine A* grades and four As, Paddy Mills, who received ten A* grades and two As and Ellie Lewis, Katherine Duncan and Jarita Vasudeva, who all achieved twelve A*s or As.

Records were also broken at King Edward VI School in Stratford, with 38 students achieving at least ten A* and A grades. Among them were 
Lewis Scarpellino who secured 11 A*s and Henry Dawes, Peter Durk, Felix Marot, Chris Moore, Christian Van Nieuwerburgh and Thomas Yates who all achieved ten A*s and one A grade.
