Police officer injured while in pursuit of suspect in Leamington

A police officer was injured while riding a motorcycle in pursuit of a Leamington man who was arrested on suspicion of committing several offences on Saturday.

Christopher Gillatt, 26, of Forfield Place, was arrested following a police pursuit which ended in Gordon Street at 10.20am.

He has been charged with ABH (occasioning actual bodily harm), dangerous driving, driving with no insurance, driving with no licence and no vehicle excise licence, failing to stop after a collision and failing to stop when directed by a police officer.

He will appear before magistrates in Leamington today.

A police officer, who was riding a marked motorcycle, suffered leg injuries as a result of a collision with a car during the incident.

He has been treated in hospital and is now recovering from his injuries.
