Warwickshire market operators give update on weekly markets and food festivals

A market operators in Warwickshire has provided an update about the weekly markets and food festivals it runs.

Since the lockdown CJ's Events Warwickshire have been faced with cancelling markets in Kenilworth and Warwick and the Warwick Food Festival, which was due to take place in May.

Now the Government has announced that the lockdown has been extended for another three weeks, the company wanted to update the public on their position.

A spokesperson from CJ's Events Warwickshire said: "Following the Governments instructions of the UK's lockdown being extended for a further three weeks, we can confirm that our weekly markets will be closed until 'at least' May 7.

"We will review this in-line with Governments advice and extend the market closures if needed.

"When you're out for your daily exercise, making your essential shopping trip, or travelling to work, you may come across our banners across Warwick District.

"Thank you to all NHS staff and Key Workers who are doing a magnificent job during these challenging times."

The team have also provided an update about some of their upcoming food festivals.

They said that they are still looking to go ahead with the food festivals in Kenilworth, Nuneaton and Coventry, however they have had to cancel one that was due to take place in June.

A spokesperson said: "It is with huge heavy hearts and much sadness that Coombe Abbey Food Festival has been cancelled, which was due to take place on June 14.

"However a 2021 date has been confirmed for Sunday 13th June. Applications will open late 2020.

"We've still got three summer food festivals scheduled to take place.

"These remain firmly in our event calendar and we are still making preparations for these amazing festivals.

"We're aware COVID-19 is a on-going and changing situation and we're monitoring this closely in line with Public Health England, Local and Central Government Advice."

The Kenilworth food festival is currently due to take place on July 19.
