A resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, contacted The Courier and said they had heard several staff members at the Sainsbury's supermarket had tested positive last week and had heard that they had continued to work at the store.

The Courier put this to Sainsbury's who defended its safety measures and said those who tested positive are self isolating.

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “A small number of colleagues have tested positive at our Leamington store and are self-isolating at home.

“Safety is our highest priority.

"We have introduced additional cleaning and have strict social distancing measures in all our stores, as well as hand sanitiser stations, Perspex screens and PPE for all our colleagues.

"We continue to support Test and Trace and remain in close contact with them.”
