Slim Your Bin rewards participants for reducing their waste and recycling more with individual prizes for residents each month and a charity donation at the end of each year.

Myton Hospices expects to see overall losses this year of at least £1 million but continues to play an important role in the response to Covid-19 by delivering vital services across Warwickshire and supporting NHS colleagues.

The money will help Myton care for people with life limiting illnesses and their families, now and in the months ahead.

Since November 2016 Warwickshire Slim Your Bin - a partnership between sustainability engagement specialists Jump and Warwickshire County Council - has urged residents to waste less and recycle more.

In 2020, Slim Your Bin participants recorded more than 25,000 positive actions for the local environment. Actions include pledging to reduce single-use plastic, recycling food waste or taking part in a litter pick.

Myton Hospices secured the donation after winning a vote among Slim Your Bin participants for their favourite charity.

Ruth Freeman, CEO, The Myton Hospices, said: “A huge thank you to everyone who has made this fabulous donation to Myton possible, including the wonderful residents of Nuneaton and Bedworth who have chosen Myton to benefit from the scheme.

"The support of the communities we serve has never been more important, so thank you on behalf of everyone at Myton and, most importantly, on behalf of our patients and their families who this wonderful donation will make such a huge difference to.”
