Meet arguably the oldest person in the Warwick district who is getting ready to celebrate his 107th birthday

John Farringdon was alive when the last major pandemic swept the world in 1918, making him arguably the oldest person in the Warwick district.

But lockdown for the coronavirus won't stop him celebrating his 107th birthday at Cubbington Mill.

John was born in Enfield, London on June 7 in 1913 and moved to Leamington in 1942 after being offered a position within Ford Motor Company, where he worked for 40 years.

John said: “He has enjoyed Leamington so much since living here.”

Hannah Fawcett, activites co-ordinator at Cubbington Mill, said: "John has made a real difference to our Cubbington Mill family since arriving here and is always making other residents and staff laugh – he is a very cheeky chap!"
