Businesses across the Warwick district have rallied to help a charity that helps homeless and vulnerable people in the Warwick district.

This week many businesses have had to close due to guidance issued by the Government amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Following this many shops and businesses decided to donate food and goods to the charity Helping Hands.

Helping Hands works with vulnerable and homeless people in the district by providing much-needed help and the team have carried on doing so throughout the coronavirus outbreak.

Lianne Kirkman, CEO at Helping Hands, said: "We have fed 1600 people since the COVID crisis kicked off.

"The most vulnerable in our community are also those most at risk and continue to need our services.

"Also as people lose jobs, we will inevitably see a rise in the number of people we need to help: so we need the community’s support more than ever.

"During what is undoubtedly a crushing and emotional time, firms both big and small have taken the time to get in touch with us and donate leftover produce.

"We massively appreciate the thought and effort involved and these donations have helped so many people already.

Ieva Dirsiene, sales manager at Holiday Inn Kenilworth and Warwick said: “We were delighted to support Helping Hands Community Project with the fresh food.

"It is a local charity that we have been supporting for the last few years.

"In the past the hotel has donated so needed beds for their accommodation facilities as well as other homeware items that help getting homeless people to get back on their feet. Should we have another opportunity to support this wonderful organisation we most certainly will."
