A Kenilworth community football club has signed a two-year kit sponsorship deal with a duo of local businesses to support its 200 young players.

Kenilworth Wardens Junior Football Club will receive £6,000 over two seasons after Talisman Shopping Centre and Leamington-based commercial property agents Wareing & Company joined forces to sponsor the club.

The sponsorship will enable the club to purchase kits for all of its 16 junior boys football teams, which range from under-8s up to under-17s.

Kenilworth Wardens is a not-for-profit, community sports club and is run entirely by volunteers.

The club is growing with a new girls’ section which started last season from which two girls teams have started playing league football this season.

The girls teams have also been fortunate to have kit supplied by another generous local business.

This and the sponsorship of the boys kits by Talisman Shopping Centre and Wareing & Company will open up other funds to support the growth of the club following a year when, due to the pandemic, it could not hold its popular football festival to raise funds.

Andrew Watts, Chairman of Kenilworth Wardens, said: “This is a huge amount of money to club like ours and a donation of this magnitude will be crucial to supporting our teams over the next two years.

“To kit-out the teams it can cost over £500 per team and the sponsorship will allow us to get all of our boys new kit over the next two years.

“We have more than 200 players registered to our club and we see the club as central to the community here in Kenilworth.
