When area was under the ocean

Few may be aware that Lake Harrison covered Leamington and much of Warwickshire around 110,000 years ago and was caused by melt waters from ice age glaciers.

Going back around 200 million years, the whole area was covered by a sub-Mediterranean type of sea, which explains the multitude of marine fossils found in the area.

Fenny Compton will be putting on an exhibition of these intriguing subjects in the village hall on the weekend of the Diamond Jubilee celebration on June 3.
