Coming local elections present the opportunity for voters to vent their concerns at the total disregard for the future outlook for middle England by London-based politicians.

Do note vote for political parties but vote for councillors who are prepared to oppose the iniquities that are being enforced on our counties without a thought for the environmental repercussions.

A government that refuses to undertake a north to south water project at a cost of £2.6 billion in a time of drought which we are told will continue due to a climate change but it is happy to spend £32 billion on a highly speculative railway concept for conspicuous consumption, has not only a total disregard for the countryside but in times of austerity, a lack of understanding on how and where to utilise limited public funds.

As for ‘we are all all in it together”, we in leafy Warwickshire are only too aware of what we are in and how deep. We did not vote for our county to be desecrated with an unnecessary railway or to subsidise wealthy landowners to cash in on useless wind farm projects to further blight our countryside and destroy our bird life.

Allied with disaffected pensioners we shold be able to make our voices heard and persuade the politicians to come down from their ivory towers and listen to the real world.

Without us they lose their power and if you don’t think that is important to them you must have missed them choking on their pasties.

A government used to lead the country for the people, they are now just a bunch of political chancers cashing in on the ineptitude of their opposition. - MJ Wheatley, John O’Gaunt Road, Kenilworth.
