Spreading the burden fairly

In response to the article (‘11th-hour bid to build 5,000 homes near Kenilworth’), I wanted to clarify several assertions made by Chris White MP. The proposed Kings Hill development is intended as a solution for the needs of Warwick district, not Coventry, as he implies.

The current Warwick District Local Plan proposals would see new housing predominate in Warwick and Leamington. This seems unfair and I would like to see any new development, that is ultimately required, to be distributed more equitably across the whole of Warwick district.

The Kings Hill option is therefore not an addition to the Local Plan, as Mr White asserts, but a potentially alternative scheme that would involve new housing needs shouldered by the north of Warwick district too.

Because Kings Hill is currently green belt land, I recognise it is not a perfect option. However, I believe it should be seriously considered by Warwick District Council so that we have a range of proposals, not just the Local Plan, and can make the most informed decision possible about what is best for the local area’s challenging development needs.
